Honorable judges and dear teachers, I am contestant No_______. It is my privilege to be here to share the topic of friendship with you. The instructions of my lesson cover the following eight parts: Teaching material Analysis, Teaching aims, Teaching emphasis, Teaching difficulties, Teaching targets, Teaching methods, Teaching aids and Teaching procedures. Part 1 Teaching material analysis This period is for reading and comprehending from Unit 1 of the New Senior English for China Student’s Book1. First of all, I’d like to talk about my understanding about this lesson.The theme of this lesson is about friendship, which is very familiar to our students, making it possible for students to have something in common to take about. The passage in the textbook is a diary written by a Jewish girl named Anne, who described her love for nature. It is moderately difficult for Senior One students to learn. Learning this passage can help the newly coming students to establish their new friendship in the new school life. And it is also a significant chance for teachers to guide them to cultivate their correct view of making friends. Part 2 Teaching aims 1.Aims of the knowledge competences: After the period of reading, Ss will be able to:

1) grasp the new words and usage of some phrases and sentences such as outdoors, spellbound, entirely, go through, set down, a series of, on purpose, face to face, in order to,etc. 2) accumulate some relevant words concerning a person’s characters, personalities. 2. Aims of the abilities competences: After the period of reading, Ss will be able to:

1) practise their reading skill and get the information to solve problems by scanning and skimming 2)read for specific information and read between lines

3)express themselves in English fluently and confidently 4)think in English logically, critically and creatively 3. Aims of the culture competences: After the period of reading, Ss will be able to:

1. know about friend and the real meaning of friend 2. learn how to get along with others 3.know about the culture background: cruel control of the German Nazis during WWII and the heroine Anne’s longing for peace and freedom

4.Aims of the emotion and value competences: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to: 1) talk about friends and friendship and form their own opinions of friendship 2) improve their cooperative spirits and creative qualities in group work. 3) foster their interest in English learning Part 3 Teaching emphasis 1.To master the new words, key phrases and sentences related to the topic. 2.To improve students’

reading ability to read for specific information and between lines by scanning and skimming the passage. Part 4 Teaching difficulties 1. To improve students’

reading ability to read between lines by scanning and skimming the passage. 2. To help students cultivate effective learning strategies

3.To encourage students to express themselves in English bravely and confidently. Part 5 Teaching targets

The students of Senior One have accumulated certain amount of English vocabulary and master some basic learning strategies and skills in junior high school. Though they are interested in learning English, they are not confident to speak English. Their motivation in learning English and effective reading skills need to be improved. And their self-learning and group-learning ability also need to be cultivated in order to form a good habit of learning English for later studying. Part 6 Teaching methods Teaching methods：skimming, scanning,Q&A, individual, pair or group work, discussion In this lesson, according to the demands of New Curriculun Standard, I will combine the five-step Teaching Method and Task-based language Teaching to design some tasks to help the students

improve their reading comprehensive ability through individual work,

pair work, group work to let the students take an active part in all kinds of activities. That is “Learning by doing,learning by using”.

Let the students be the masters of the class teaching, thus, student-centered teaching method is well shown. Part 7 Teaching aids Projector，slide show，videos,
