Teaching goals: Enable the students to 1. know more about Asimov 2. learn how to write a biography 3. cooperate to finish the writing 4. respect and learn from science fiction writers

Teaching process：

Step 1.

Greeting and lead in

Greet the students and tell them the topic and tasks today.

Watch and answer Read and discuss Practice and write Report and share Step 2.

Watch and answer 1.

Show students three questions and get them to find answers in the video. ◆

What is Asimov? ◆

How many science fictions did he write? ◆

What is one of his awards ?

Play the video and let students race to answer the three questions, giving them certain scores for the correct answers. 2. Pair work

Work with a partner to fill in the blanks. The passage is based on the video. 3. Check the answers and give some scores to the groups that have correct answers. Step 3. Read and discuss 1. Assign students the jigsaw writing task and get them to discuss the contents after reading Exercise 1 on Page 17. 2. Review how to write a biography with the whole class.

Let each group leader distribute the tasks to the group members and get each group to write their parts on the card given by the teacher, giving them the criteria to judge their writing. 2. Provide some expressions for students to refer to. Step 5. Report and share 1.

Take pictures of the students' compositions.

2. Invite several group representatives to read aloud their compositions and ask other students to give them proper scores according to the given criteria. 3. Teacher gives each group comments and get all the students to vote for the best, choosing the top three. Finally give these groups electronic certificates. Step 6. Conclusion 1. Ask students, "what have you learned in this class?" and invite a few students to speak. 2. Teacher summarizes the class. 3. Homework. Have every student write a biography of Asimov individually.
