Step 1

Lead-in The teacher starts the lesson with a song”You and ME” as well as a series of pictures taken in the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics. Step 2

Reading strategy Lead the students to read “Reading Strategy” on page 23.

Show the definition of a speech and ways to make a good speech. Fill in the form. Ask them : What does the author actually want to do by asking “Do you know when the ancient Olympic Games began”? Finish the exercise. Step 3

Fast reading Raise three questions from the reading passage, ask students read it quickly to find out the answers directly. Step 4
