1. Students are able to understand the cartoon and act it out. 2. Students are able to understand and know the stress, try to read a sentence with stress properly. 3. Students are able to understand and know the different driving rules in China (except HK and Macau) and in the UK. 4. Students are able to understand and know the traffic rules for both drivers and people, then use “…must/mustn’t…” to express themselves. 5. Step 1. Warm-up. 1. Guessing game: “What’s the word in my hand?”

Ss take turns to guess, lead in the tile “Road safety”, T write on the blackboard.

2.Watch and tick.

Ss watch a video about an accident, and tick out the improper behaviors from the video. (1)The woman and the girl didn't wait on the pavement.

Step 2. Cartoon time 1. Listen and order PPT show the pictures of cartoon time, Ss listen to the tape and order the pictures.

Then check the answers together. 2. Read and underline

Ss read the cartoon by themselves and underline the answers by different ways.

Step 3. Culture time 1. PPT show two pictures of cars driving on the road. Ss observe and find the difference.

New teaching: except Hong Kong and Macau 4. Know more countries who have the same driving rules

Ss observe the pictures and guess where is it and how do people drive.

New teaching: In Australia and Japan, people also drive on the left side of the road.

In the USA and Canada, people also drive on the right side of the road.

Step 4: Sound time 1. Learn to be a road guide. T: We’ve learned a lot about traffic rules.

PPT show the tips: To be a good road guide, you must say some words loudly to tell them the key information ! 2. PPT show the passage of sound time without colours

T: Which words need to read loudly?

Ss try to read. 3. PPT show sound time and colour the stress, Ss read it and ask Ss to stand up when they read the stress. 4. T asks Ss try to read the two sentences on the blackboard with stress. When we see people or animals crossing the road.

Step 5: Consolidation 1. Look and talk

PPT show some pictures about people or drivers’ improper behaviors on the road, Ss talk about them. 2. Try to be a good road guide

Ss work in groups, choose one picture to talk and act.

T makes an example with Ss first, and tell Ss if you are wrong , you have to say sorry and do the right behavior. 3. Ss’ show time

Homework: Oral part: Be able to read cartoon time fluently and try to read it with stress. Writing part: 1. The bus goes on, and what will happen next? Write a dialogue with your imagination. 2. Find and take notes about more countries whose people drive on the right side or left side of the road.
