Ⅲ. Teaching procedures

Step 1. Warming up and revision

1. Greetings

2. Lead in with a song: Table and chair

Step 2. Presentation

1. Learn the new words.

(1) Show a picture of Tom’s house.

(Teach the new words table / sofa/ bookcase/ chair/ bed.)

2. Ss listen to the recording and finish 1b.

3. Match the words with the things in the picture. (1a)

4. Present on/in/under.

5. Present “where”: Pretend to look for Tom’s pet mouse Dolly.

Step 3. Practice

1. Help Tom find his school things.

2.Practice the key sentences: Where’s …? It’s on/ in/ under…

Where are …? They’re on/ in/ under…

Step 4. Pair work

1. Practice the conversation in 1a with your partner.

2. Then make your own conversations using the words in the box (in/on/under).

3. Ask some pairs to act out their conversations.

Step 5. Summary: Challenge Your Memory

Show a picture of a room. Give the students two minutes to look at it, then let them say out what they can see and where the things are.

Ⅳ. Homework:

Talk about the things in your room. Try to use on/ in/ under.
