Where’s the Spider Part 1 Analysis of teaching material Ⅰ

Teaching contents

English This Way Book 8—Unit 4 Lesson 5 Where’s the Spider. This lesson includes some prepositions, words of animals and daily conversations about positions. Ⅱ

Teaching aims 1. Knowledge aims:

1).Make the students master the new words: on, in, under, behind and spider. 2).Make the students understand and use the sentence patterns: “Where is …?” And its answer: “It’s on/in/under/behind…”

Ability aims:

1).Improve the students’ abilities of listening, speaking, reading by learning the new words and dialogues. 2).Improve the students’ self-learning ability in English. 3).Make the students use the sentence patterns neatly in their daily life. 3.

Moral aims: 1).Motivate the students’ interest in learning English.

2).Get fun and confidence by English learning.

Teaching important points: 1. New words : in, on, under, behind and spider 2. Sentence patterns: —Where’s …?

3. The English song: Kookaburra Ⅳ

Teaching difficulties:

1.

The pronunciation format of the new words. 2.

Make sure the students can understand and use the target language correctly. Part 2 Teaching methods Method of lecture, situational approach, multimedia approach, direct-viewing demonstration teaching method and imitation method will be used in this lesson.

Part 3 Analysis of students Most of the students in Grade 3 are not good at English. But, they have the primary ability of memorizing and imitating. The students can learn the new knowledge quickly, but they can’t concentrate for a long time. So the key point is to set a relaxing and happy learning environment, and use all kinds of teaching methods to sequentially inspire and keep their interests during the whole class.
