T: We are going to learn the words for some animals on the farm and some outdoor things. What animals do you know? S: Dog. S: Cat. T: I know …

S: I know sheep. S: I know duck. T: Perfect. Now listen to the CD carefully. 2.

Listen and follow T: Play the CD, holding up the flashcard for each animal or thing as its name is said. Pause after each word so children can point to the object in their books. Check children are pointing to the correct object. 3.

Try to repeat T: Play the CD again, pausing after each word. Ss: repeat the words chorally and individually. Step 3. Practice 1.

Listen and point T: We are going to say a word and you should point to that animal or thing in their books. T: Say the words at random, e.g. flower, sun, field, goat, donkey, duck, butterfly. As you say each word, you may like to hold up the flashcard to give children visual support. Ss: Point to the words at random. 2.

Listen and check T: Check children are pointing to the correct thing in their books. Play the CD and pause after each word. Ss: listen and point to the animal or thing in their books.

Say and do T: Hold up the flashcard of the donkey. Look at it and say Look! Ask is it a horse? Ss: No. T: Encourage children to respond No, it isn’t. It’s a donkey. Ss: No, it isn’t. It’s a donkey. T: Hold up the flashcard of the butterfly. You are going to say a word and you should point to that animal or thing in your books. Ss: Point to the animals. T: Repeat with the other flashcards, naming some of them correctly and other incorrectly. Say the words at random, e.g. flower, sun, field, goat, donkey, duck, butterfly. As you say each word, you may like to hold up the flashcard to give children visual support. Step 4. Activity time Match and colour 1.

T: Put the flashcards for duck, sun, flower, butterfly, goat, and donkey in a column on the board. Point to the duck and ask What’s this? Ss: It’s a duck. 2.

T: look at page 39. T: look at the first picture in the left column. This is a small part of something in the right column. Try to find the large picture in the large picture in the right column. Ss: Looking for the large picture. 3.

Put the flashcards for duck, sun, flower, butterfly, goat, and donkey in a column on the board.

T: Point to the duck and ask What’s this? Ss: It’s a duck. Repeat with all the pictures. 4.
