Analysis of reading material The type of this class is using language, which contains two parts: listening and writing. The aim of this listening is to introduce students to a living inventor, James Dyson. He is not only a famous British inventor; he is also the CEO of his company. As for writing part, the aim of that exercise is to use all the information students have gained about the Dyson Company and its application procedure to apply for a job. 2.

Analysis of students Grade Three students are in a stage where they are most imaginative and creative. They have mastered some listening strategies as well as writing methods and can apply them into reading and understanding a passage. However, they still lack systematic methods to handle and understand different texts. Besides, their thinking ability can be further enhanced.

After this lesson, students will have been able to

General teaching ideas

This lesson begins with a popular cartoon, Trains, as the warming-up. By introducing the new train, it leads to the topic--- inventors and inventions, which serves as a main clue in the whole class. During the process, the teacher will help students infer and think. After listening, teacher leads students to discuss some qualities an employee should have if he/she wants to apply for a job in James Dyson’s company. Naturally, the teacher will guide students to pass listening task to

writing—an application letter. 5.

Teaching procedure Step1: Warming-up T presents a video about the popular cartoon, Trains

Meanwhile, paves the way of noticing the inventors and inventions. Step 2: Leading-in T: Wonderful! So, can you tell me any other inventors or inventions? If not, look at the picture together and tell me what you can see.
