1.Knowledge aim:

During the class the students will get to know the story of a failed expedition,the qualities and leadership needed to survive in Antarctica . 2. Ability Aim: The students can practice their reading abilities and can judge different emotions described in the text. 3. Moral Aim: The students learn to appreciate optimism, perseverance and leadership in face of hardship and can also appreciate a successful failure. steps Lead-in

activities Purposes

Introduction: different aspects about Antarctica known Familiarize the students with the environment of the story and try to put them in shoes of the by us hero.

Scan the text to answer the questions Get to know the author and his feelings Fast- reading Careful- reading Find the key words with emotions Try to thoroughly understand the feelings of the author when the ship was stuck. Get to know the personality of the author.

Discuss the leadership presented by Shackleton Get to know sth. about leadership introduction
