Ss can listen, speak and read daily English &sentence patterns: There was a lion in the forest. One day, a mouse walked by and woke the lion up. I can help you some day, the mouse said quietly. Just then, the mouse saw the lion. Important and difficult points：

Ss can master past tense and daily English. Teaching and learning aids：

Step1 Free talk 1. Greetings

T：Hello, boys and girls!

Ss：Hello, Miss Xu.

T: My children, haven’t seen you for a long time. Nice to meet you again. A new term , a new beginning , a new goal and a new harvest. Let’s work hard together.

Ss: OK.

2. Free talk.

What day is it today? What day was it yesterday? How is the weather today? What animals do you like？

Step2 Presentation

1. Look at the picture.

T: This is a lion. This is a mouse. The lion is… The mouse is…

Before you read the story, I have some questions for you. a. Who woke the lion up? b. Did the lion eat the mouse? c. How did the men catch the lion? d. How did the mouse help the lion? e. What did the lion and the mouse become? Ss understand the questions , then read the story and underline the answers.

Ask some Ss to check the answers, then Ss read the sentences together and learn the new phrases together. Walk by, wake…up, let…go, the next day, with a large net, just then, from then on..

a. A mouse woke the lion up. b. No, he didn’t.

c. They caught the lion with a large net. d. He made a big hole in the net with his teeth.
