Lesson Plan for Unit 4

We love animals Part C Story time I. Analysis of teaching material The material of this lesson is from Part C in Grade 3 of New Standard English, which is published by People’s Education Press. The topic of this unit is to talk about animals. The topic is very interesting and practical. It is very useful for students to use the topic to communicate with others in their daily life. It is also helpful for students to improve their English ability.

This lesson is the end of this unit. It mainly focuses on Part C, which gives students listening and oral practice by using the target language, such as“Follow me”, “I have a carrot”. The activities in this lesson will give students oral practice to practice the target language. They are helpful to improve students’ speaking skills.

II. Analysis of students The students of Grade 3 have learned English for two months. So far, they have cultivated an interest in learning English and they have built the ability of understanding some very simple oral English. What’s more, they also have got some speaking ability, which will be improved in their daily study. It is very important to develop primary school students’

interests in learning English. So the teacher will use some activities in the class to finish some tasks such as individual, pair work or group work to let each of them have more chances to practice English and involve actively in the lesson.

It is easy for the teacher to arouse

interest in this lesson, but it is not easy to make them focus their attention for the whole period, so the teacher will create various activities to maintain their curiosity.

Ⅷ. Summary Speaking is an important ability in English learning. In China, many teachers put emphasis on writing during their teaching. But as language teaching, communication is the basic ability to develop in students’ learning. So in the end of this lesson, the teacher spends one class teaching students the activity part. This lesson not only teaches them the ability of speaking, but also helps students get the background knowledge of this unit. It is the consolidation of this unit.

After this lesson, the teacher finds out that students need to be encouraged in learning. This will help them to use English bravely and participate in activities. This class design is reasonable, because students in class get the opportunities to learn by themselves and communicate with others. Students can develop their speaking of the

integrated linguistic skills. However, the teacher needs to go on exploring how to improve students’ enthusiasm and stimulate their interests in the task and cooperative teaching.

Ⅹ. After-class reflection

Through this lesson I learned how to act properly as a teacher, how to organize the class effectively, how to deal with emergencies and how to get along with the students. To be a teacher is not only to know something clearly but also to pass on them to the students in an effective and acceptable way. One aspect that has to be mentioned is that the least desirable way is that the teacher keeps talking all the time without consideration for the students. Teaching is the process of both interpreting and learning. Paying each aspect less attention, the teaching will be a failure. Teaching is also an interacting process which requires two sides to take part.
