This lesson is from Unit 5 of PEP Primary English Book 3A. It based on the former knowledge, and provides many language points for the following learning. So it plays an important part in the whole book. This unit mainly talks about how to order and serve food in daily life. I divide this unit into 6 periods, and this lesson is the 4th

period, It contains 2 parts: 1.learn the new words: water, cake, fish, rice; 2.learn to order food in restaurant using the following sentence patterns: Can I have some (water…), please? ---Here you are. The students may be interested in learning and practicing this class. The analysis of the students

The students of grade 3 have learnt English only for more than 2months, so they are eager to express themselves, and speak English well , The pupils at this age are active , creative and curious, they are interested in various activities, for example , singing, dancing, playing…but, there are still some students may not be good at English, so I’ll design my teaching more carefully, try my best to create a soft and happy atmosphere for the students to learn and use

English without fear. Arouse their interests in speaking English. Teaching aims 1.Aims on the knowledge：（1）

The students can understand, speak and use the 4 words: water, fish, rice, cake; (2) The students learn to understand and use the key sentences: Can I have some…, please? ----Here you are.

2. Aims on the abilities:

(1) The students can order or serve common food in English ;(2) The students can get the main idea with the help of the pictures or certain situation; 3. Aims on the emotion: (1) The students build healthy habit of diet ;(2) The students try to find the differences of eating habits between China and the western countries.

Teaching methods & learning strategies 1. Teaching methods: Task-based teaching method, TPR teaching method, communicative approach 2. Learning strategies: Active leaning, cooperative learning methods, practice. Key points & difficulties

1.Key points：Understand the text, and master the expressions: Can I have some…, please? Here you are. 2. Difficulties: The correct pronunciation of the new words.

PPT, pictures, word cards, stick figures. Analyze the Teaching procedures: 【The theories of teaching design: The instructional aim of Primary English teaching is to cultivate the students’ basic abilities of listening, speaking, reading and their good sense of English language; In the English class, the main characters must be the pupils, the teacher can only work as an organizer and helper, the students should learn English in the free, happy atmosphere.】

Step 1.Review & warm up 1. Greet between the teacher and the teacher. *The students on the screen may greet me on line. 2. Introduce a new friend, show the picture of ChenJie. *Invite the volunteer on the screen to tell us the name of ChenJie, and greet her. 【Design purpose: Greeting each other on line and using the picture to introduce ChenJie are both easy, this step can help to improve the students’

interests in speaking English.】

3. Create a competitive situation: ChenJie wants to invite the winners to have a picnic together. *The students in different schools on the screen will compete to perform well in class; they must try their best to gain the rewards. 【Design purpose: The pupils at this age are active , creative and curious,

they are interested in various activities, they all want to be the winners. This competition will help them to learn by heart and volunteer to answer questions.】

4. Review words in Part A.

*The students may look at the blackboard drawings and compete to tell me the names of the food to gain the rewards. They may use the sentence patterns, too: Can I have some…, please? ----Here you are. 【Design purpose: The students may be interested in reviewing the words and sentences with the help of blackboard drawings.】

Step 2. Presentation 1. Learn the words about the food by showing the pictures, such as rice/ fish/ cake/ water. *Students may compete to be volunteers to answer my questions. 【Design purpose: Telling the students Chen Jie has prepared the food and drink already, the students may be eager to know and learn these new words about food.】

1. Learn and practice with the help of PPT. *Students may watch the white board, and volunteer to order the food they see. 【Design purpose: Use PPT to practice using sentence patterns to order food, help the students to consolidate what they learnt.】

Step 3 Practice & drill Create the situation in a restaurant. 1. Listen to the tape, imitate the dialog between Sarah and Zoom. 2. Invite students to help Wu Yifan / John / ChenJie to order the food they want. 【Design purpose: Helping the other 3 guests to order food in the restaurant can help the students master using the sentence patterns, and reflect their learning effects.】

Step 4 Consolidation and extension 1. Repeat ordering food using the names of the food and the sentence patterns. 2. Invite the 2-3 groups of students to make a dialog as the guest and waiter or waitress. 【Design purpose: The students practice in a situation of ordering or serving food, this step can help to improve their abilities of using English in daily life.】

3. Conclude the result of the competition between the two schools on the screen. Invite the students to sing the song “Let’s have a picnic today” together. Step 5 Homework 1. Listen to the tape, and read after it.

2. Make a dialog with your friend or family member as the guest and the host. 3. Collect some information of diet habits in western countries. 【Design purpose :A proper amount of assignment is necessary for the students, it can help the students to review to consolidate learning today.】
