A Social Survey--- My neighbourhood Reading and vocabulary 一、教学目标

1.知识目标

1)Get the students to learn and grasp the important useful new words and expressions in the part. 2)Students can get the details by reading and guessing in the context in pairs.

2.能力目标

1) Improve the Ss’ ability in reading.

2) Train the Ss to grasp the main idea of the text and students can get the details by reading and guessing in the context in pairs. 3.情感目标

Students will feel more confident and be proud of their hometown. 二、教学重难点

Emphasis: 1）

Get the students to grasp the new words and learn to speak

by using the new words and expressions.

2）

How to train students’ reading skill. Difficult point: Get the students to guess the meanings of the new words in the context and how to train students’ reading skill. Teaching methods: communicative, interactive, task-based. 三、学情分析

大部分学生基础较差，加之刚进高一不久，词汇量少，阅读理解能力欠缺，因此，在本节课阅读A Lively City之前，先学习有关单词，

接着以几幅图片的形式介绍厦门的有关风光，以激起学生对于所学内容的兴趣。再进行阅读理解新课，通过预习，课堂和课后训练让学生达到学习要求。

五、教学过程

Step 1. Warming up by studying vocabulary

Turn to page 114, and study some new words for Unit Four, paying attention to the spelling and pronunciation. Step 2: Pre-reading Last module we have learnt something about Australia, right? Maybe it is the place where we have no much opportunity to go. But today we are going to talk about a beautiful place in our country. There’s a great chance that we will go there some day.

Now look at the pictures.

Do you know which city it is?

Show the pictures about Xiamen on the screen. Ask Ss to say one or two sentences about Xiamen. Tell the students something about Xiamen.

(1) It is located on the southeast coast of China.

(2) It is a place of interest. It has many tourist attractions, such as Gulangyu Island and Gulang Stone.

这一环节包括两项活动: 第一

Fasting Reading

Listen to the tape about this place and try get as much information as you can . 快速阅读课文，通过播放课文录音部分，让学生完成三个简单的与课文有关的问题Activity1。然后，做与课文相关的

True or False 练习。

(设计目的：通过快读，听录音是对话课的一部分。通过听，锻炼学生在听的同时能抓住相关信息的能力。)

第二

Carefuling Reading细读课文，填与课文信息有关的表格。

（设计目的：通过细读，锻炼学生在给定时间内查找信息

整合信息的能力。）

Step 4 Retelling

1)通过段落填空复述课文，让学生进一步熟悉课文内容。

2)给出课文的重点词语让学生连词成句。老师先复述一遍，学生听。然后，让学生们复述。

（设计目的：通过复述，让学生进一步熟悉课文，锻炼学生自己连词成句的能力。给出关键词避免了学生在组句子时的盲目性和混乱性，让学生单独说给了学生张嘴的机会，让他们有展示自己的舞台。）Suppose you were a guide, how do you introduce Xiamen? Let Ss work in pairs or groups with the help of the following key words.

The climate is pretty hot and wet in the summer , but it can be quite cold in winter. Every year, many tourists come to Xiamen to spend their holidays, especially in summer. Its business district has put up a lot of high-rise buildings recently. And there are some great shopping malls. The western district is the most interesting part of the city. It’s got some really pretty parks. Xiamen is famous for GulangyuIsland. It’s a gorgeous island with some really interesting architecture Step 5 Discussion

本部分属于能力提升。给出关键词让学生试着介绍一下自己的家乡—青川。在关键词方面有本单元中的重点词汇，再补充一些与家乡有关的词汇，如：唐家河自然保护区等。学生先以小组的形式组内讨论并写下讨论的内容。

(设计目的：本单元的学习目的就是学会运用所学词汇介绍一个地方。通过介绍自己的家乡，既让学生复习了所学词汇，又增强了对自己家乡的热爱，为下面的情感提升奠定基础。) Step 6 Summary

总结本节课所学内容，同时展示情感提升。

Homework 写一篇介绍自己家乡的短文。
