Festivals Teaching Aims: 1.
To review and make sure students have mastered the language points. 2.
To make sure students know about the Chinese festivals and some western festivals: Halloween, Christmas, Thanksgiving Day, Flag Day, etc. 3.
To make sure students know about what people usually do in these festivals.
4.
To be able to talk about their favorite festivals, subjects, sports, etc, using My favorite ... Is...or I like ... best.

Pictures Teaching Procedures Warming up: 1.
Brain Storm. Students say the names of Chinese festivals and Western festivals they know, and write the names on the blackboard in two lines.

Pair work. Do some oral practice in pairs to practice What is your favorite festival? My/Our favorite Festival is ... (They are allowed to say I like ... Best. Or ... is my favorite festival. ) Show some pairs.
Then teacher helps them to practice What’s your favorite subject/ sports/ color?
Presentation 1.
Free talk. Students talk about their favorite festival and what they do at this festival.

3. Group work Students work in group of four to talk about their favorite festivals and invite one to present to the whole class. Expansion Make a little book. Work in groups to make a little book. Step One: Fold the piece of paper and mark page 1-4. Step Two: Choose a title and make sure which festival they are going to talk about. Step Three: Write the sentence of what people do at this festival at the bottom on each page. Step Four: Draw a picture to show in each page. Step Five: Color and decorate to make the little book better. (If there is not enough time, they can do this after class.) When they finish, come onto the stage and share. Homework Write about their favorite festivals, including the key information.
