Pets

Reading Teaching aims：

l. To learn about rhyme schemes, stress and intonation of poetry 2. To learn new vocabulary to talk about pets 3. To read about and talk about animal behaviour

Teaching procedures：

Step one: pre-reading

Enjoy a poem about a pig and find the word rhyme

Step two: Warm-up

Read through the two poems and answer the question: What are the poems about?

Guess the riddles about the pets. Enjoy some pictures of different animals and simply talk about their behaviour.

Step three: Deal with the first poem on page 94 1. Let the students talk about the dog’s behaviour

2. Read the first poem and find more behaviour of the dog. 3. Do some exercises and retell the dog’s behaviour according to the key words. 4. Listen to the poem and try to find the poem rhyme.
