Teaching goals:

1. Enable the students to know more about cloning.

2. Developstudents’speaking and listening ability. 3. Improve the students’reading ability, such as skimming, scanning, get the detailed information and understand the main idea of the text.

4. Cultivate students’ sprit of scientific exploration and critical thinking.

Teaching important points:

To understand the effects of cloning.

Teaching difficult points:

1. Enable the students to realize the importance and development tendency of cloning.

2. How to deal with the conflicts between cloning and moral.

Teaching methods:

1. Individual work, pair work and group work.

2. expository method,discussion method, heuristic method.

Teaching aids:

1. Multimedia.

2. the white board.

Teaching Procedures:

Step I：Lead- in

Show some pictures of movies related to cloning and ask students to find out the common point to import the topic. Step II：Contact life

Let students give examples about cloning and then ask some of the students to give their answers.

Step III：Brainstorm

The teacher will show the students some examples. At the same time ask the students to brainstorm the advantages of cloning.

Step IV：Watch a video clip Watch a video clip about animal cloning and write down the animals mentioned in the video.

Step V：Discussion

“If you had c cloning card,what kind of animals would you clone and why?”

After the discussion the teacher give her answer--she will clone dodo.

Step VI: Reading Comprehension

1. Fast reading

Pick out a student to read the passage to the class then answer the question:

“What makes dodo a suitable animal to be cloned?”

2. Careful reading

Give the students three minutes to read the passage and then answer the question: “What’s the benifits of bring dodo back to life?”

Step Ⅶ: Discussion, listening and debating 1.

Listen the tape to choode the statements that students heaed. 2.

Listen again to fill in the chart.

Is cloning cruel? Are you in favor of it or against it?( Give 5 minutes to the Ss for preparation and then have a debate. Ask students to vote for the winner.)

To search the Internet for information about human cloning. To write an artical to state students’ idea about cloning.
