The present progressive passive voice

In Junior high school, we have learned the formation and use of the passive voice, the formation of the present passive voice and past passive voice .In the last two units , we have learned future passive voice and present perfect passive voice. Here , we will go on learning passive voice--the progressive passive voice .(初中我们学习了被动语态的构成和用法、一般现在时和一般过去时的被动语态的构成，以及含有情态动词的被动语态，上两个单元我们又学习了将来时和现在完成时的被动语态。这节课我们将继续学习被动语态--现在进行的被动语态。) Ⅰ．The Tense of the the Passive Voice 1. Present passive voice: am/is/are + p.p.

e.g. The Olympic Games

奥运会经常在大城市举办。

2. Past passive voice: was/were + p.p.

e.g. The last Olympic Games ________ in Brazil.

上届奥运会是在巴西举办的。

3. Future passive voice: will/shall + be + p.p.

am/is/are + going to be + p.p.

am/is/are+ to be+ p.p.

e.g. The children ______________

hospital if they have a slight fever.

The children ___________________ to hospital if they have a slight fever.

The children ___________________hospital if they had a slight fever.

孩子如果有点发烧应该送到医院去。

Ⅱ．这里我们将继续学习现在进行时的被动语态.(Here , we will go on learning passive voice—the progressive passive voice .) 观察下列句子中的划线部分。(Look at the underlined part of the sentences.) Mary is being interviewed now. Tom’s car is being repaired now.

The life of the panda is being studied at present. Ⅲ．现在进行时的被动语态:

am/is/are + being done 1)表示说话时正在进行的一个被动动作，强调主语是动作的承受者。

e.g. 瞧！那个婴儿正由他的姑姑照料着。

Look! The baby ________ taken care of by her aunt. 2) 表示这一段时间正在进行的一个被动的动作。

e.g. 这一阵子许多讲座正在举行。

Many speeches _________ held these days. 3) 表示按计划或安排将要进行的一个被动动作。

e.g. 今晚将要进行一场圣诞晚会。

A party is being held tonight. 4) be + under / in +n.的结构可以表示现在进行时的被动语态的含义。

①The problem is under discussion now. = The problem is being discussed now.

②The telephone is in use. = The telephone is being used. 5) 一些表示“心理活动, 拥有, 存在”等动词, 一般不用现在进行时的被动语态, 而用一般现在时的被动语态。

e.g. Joe, come here. You are wanted on the phone. Can you find the following sentence in the reading passage in unit4? Pay attention to the verb tense. We are being killed for the wool beneath our stomachs. Ⅳ. Then pick out four more sentences using the present progressive

passive voice from the passage.
