Can talk about The Spring Festival. Teaching steps: Step 1. Revise some festival : Halloween/ Thanksgiving/ The Mid-autumn Day Look and guess what is this festival. (food/ day/ do) Step 2. Show three pictures (dumplings/ chicken/ fish), ask the children: Do you know this festival? When do we eat this food? Children answer: The Spring Festival.

The Chinese New Year is the most important festival in China. It is also called The

Spring Festival. It is on the first day of the Chinese lunar January.

The day before the festival, all the members of the family get together and have

a big dinner. People uaually eat dumplings, chicken and fish.

The next morning, people dress in their best clothes. They go from house to

house and pay a New Year call. They wish each other good luck in the new year.

Children will be very happy, because they would get the lucky money from their

parents.

Look at the pictures and learn about The Spring Festival. The Spring Festival is on the first day of the Chinese lunar January. People often eat dumplings, chicken and fish on this day. They usually watch TV after dinner. In Foshan, people often go the Flower Street after dinner. Everybody has fun. The next morning, people dress in their clothes. They go from house to house and pay a new call. Children will be happy, they will get lucky money from their parents. Step 4. Try to read the text about The Spring Festival. Step 5. Practice.
