Teaching procedures: Step one Lead-in Look at these pictures and answer:

Have our ancestors’ dream come true? Human beings have a lively imagination. With the development of science and technology, many things that can only happen in fairy tales have become reality. During this long process, imagination (fantasy) plays an important role.

Step Two An introduction to science fiction

Read the information at the top of Page 58 and fill in blanks.

Step Three

Learn some writing strategies from Journey to the Centre of the Earth.
