Explanation of Present Tense

Teaching aims:

Help students master the basic structure of Present Tense as well as adjectives with –ing and –ed endings. Let students be able to use Present Tense freely and find out the different usage of adjectives with –ing and –ed endings.

Teaching aids:

Electronic blackboard, text book and PowerPoint.

Teaching procedures:

Step one: Greeting

Step two: lead in

Show a short story and ask students to find out the different tenses in the text.(most of them are present tense)

Step three: Introduce Present Tense.

Show the basic structure of Present Tense with examples.

Step four: Introduce The present continuous tense

Ask students to make a comparison between the two different tenses and to sum up the features of the Present Tense.

Step five: Show some sentences with –ing and –ed ending adjectives. Ask students to have a discussion in groups with two tasks. Firstly, translate the sentences into Chinese. Secondly, draw a

conclusion from the above sentences and tell the difference between –ing and –ed ending adjectives.

Step six: Exercise time.

Prepare some related exercise for students to finish, which can help students master what we have learnt today.

Step seven: Homework Assignment.
