Teaching Background:

根据新课标要求，研读语篇就是对所给语篇的主题、内容、文体结构、语言特点、作者观点等进行深入的解读。围绕本单元主题语境--健康饮食，本节课将基于阅读语篇Come and eat here (1) (2)

，引导学生理解文本中语言点，即句法结构和重点词汇的学习，即过去分词和现在分词的学习，并帮助学生灵活应用本节所学，通过体会英语语言表达的规范性及多样性，加深对主题意义的理解，培养良好的学习和生活习惯。

Analysis of the Teaching Materials:

Come and eat here is a narration chosen from Unit 2 Heathy Eating. It narrated stories between Wang Peng and Yong Hui, who owned two different types of restaurant. Most of the reading focused on their competition and at last both of them realized the weaknesses of their diets and began to cooperate with each other by combining their menus and offering a balanced diet.

As the language itself contains lots of conversations, it is not difficult for students to find out important information and list features of these two restaurants with key words they learned in this unit. Language points within the reading are limited to the Present participle and Past participle, such as their forms, functions, and their realization in a whole sentence.

Analysis of the Students:

Students had exposed to the sentence constitutions before they learned the attributive clause. And most of them can identify subject of the given sentence in the context easily. What’s more, they are aware of the relationship between subject and

verb while applying active voice or passive voice.

Since this reading contains several sentences with present participle and past participle, students find difficulties in analyzing the sentence structures. And students seldom use them in the writing to make the sentences more flexible and vivid.

Teaching Objectives: a.

Students will be able to list the key words and phrases to describe Wang Peng and Yong Hui’s diets ; b.

Students will be able to find out the reason why Wang Peng and Yong Hui’ new diet was such a success and they will be inspired to cooperate with others in solving problems; c.

Students will be able to work out the usage of present participle and past example by analyzing the sample sentences chosen in the reading; d.

Students will be able to come up with solutions in forming good eating habits by group discussion;

Teaching Focus ＆Anticipated Difficulties: The realization of present participle and past participle in the key sentences; filling in blanks using present participle and past participle to complete sentences.

Step 4 Fill in sentences in the given context; Wang Peng sat in his empty restaurant, feeling very frustrated; Something terrible must have happened if Li Chang was not coming to eat in his restaurant as he always did; He could not have Yong Hui getting away with telling people lies! He had better do some research; Even though her customers might get thin after eating Yong Hui’s food, they were not eating enough energy-giving food to keep them fit; With a discount and a new sign he could win his customers back; We ought to combine our ideas and provide a balanced menu with food full of energy and fibre; Their balanced diets became such a success that before long Wang Peng became slimmer and Yong Hui put on more weight.
