Pride and Prejudice导读教学设计

Teaching aims：

By the end of the class ,students will be able to：

1.figure out the features of each character through the text and their language. 2.try to think about the true value of marriage. 3.experience the charm of novel Pride and Prejudice, strengthen the interest of reading. 4.master the key words in the text, such as in vain, decline, arrogant, against one's will, rejoice, did every thing in one's power etc. Key and difficult points: 1.to guide Ss to role- play the dialogue between Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy and figure out the features of each character through their language. 2.to get Ss to write down their opinions about the behavior of Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy. Teaching methods: task-based language teaching；communicative language teaching；the oral approach and situational language teaching. Teaching procedure：

Step 1 Leading in I. Show the most famous sentence from Pride and Prejudice and arouse Ss interest towards the novel and writer. 2. Give a brief introduction of Jane Austen. 3. Show Ss a scene from the film Pride and Prejudice, in which Elizabeth met Mr. Darcy at a ball for the first time and arouse Ss interest to read the text. Step 2 Fast-reading Use skimming and scanning to find the answer of following questions：

1. Why did Elizabeth refuse Mr.Darcy 2. Why was Mr. Darcy sure that she would accept him? 3. What caused Elizabeth to refuse Mr. Darcy so abruptly? 4. Can you guess the end of the story Step 3 Careful-reading and role-play 1.Teach Ss the difficult words and expressions of the dialogue between Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy. 2. Role-play in a group and pay attention to the emotions and tones. 3. Ask one group to perform. 4. Try to analyze the characteristic of Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy. Step 4 Post-reading Imagine you are Elizabeth's father. will you approve their marriage? Discuss in groups and share your opinions about for or against their marriage Step 5 Writing 1.Combining what students have just discussed and write down their opinions about their behavior. And express what they would have done in this situation. 2. Show Ss work on the blackboard. Step 6 Homework Read the novel after class and think about the true value of marriage.
