Ability objectives: 1.Students can talk about clothes and prices with target language. 2.Students’ listening ability for grasping key words can be strengthened by listening to the conversations in 2b again and again. Teaching Procedures

Step 1 Warm-up and lead-in 1.Greetings as usual. 2.Show a picture of a clothing store and tell them I bought some clothes during last weekend, then ask them to guess what I bought. (These steps are to arouse their interest in learning this topic.)

Step 2 Presentation 1.

Teach the new words Learn the new words by showing the picture one by one. And then divide them into three groups and have a competition to memorize these words. 2.

Finish 1a-match the words with the things in the picture individually.Then check the answer one by one. 3.

Learn the sentence pattern‘‘How much is...?’’ ‘‘It’s...’’ ‘‘How much are...?’’ ‘‘They are...”. Explain ‘‘How much’’ and ‘‘dollar’’.

Step 3 Practice Ask students to practice the sentences with their partners for three minutes. And then make their own conversations with the things in 1a. Then invite several groups to come to the blackboard to present their conversations.

Step 4 Listening practice 1.Review the color and introduce four new words: big, small, short and long.

2.Listen to the recording twice and circle the things they hear. 3. Listen to the recording again and fill in the price tags. 4.Ask and answer questions about the things in 2b and then give them five minutes to make up a dialogue by using the information in 2d.Next invite 4 pairs to present their practice and give them praise and encouragement. This step is similar to step 3. It’s in order to strengthen their

understanding of the target language and improve their communicative ability.

Step 5 Summary In this step,I’ll ask students to summarize the news words and

the sentence pattern about how to ask prices and offer help politely.Then give my suggestions.

Step 6 Homework 1.Review and memorize these new words learned. 2.Do a survey. Ask at least ten classmates about their clothes’ price with the sentence pattern learned in this class.
