Teaching Plan

----- Book8 Unit3 Reading&Writing I Analysis of students We will focus on training students’

speaking and writing skills. There are three mian parts: Read and learn --- students learn the form of an application letter and key points of each part. Oral practice --- students make up sentences of each part according to the requirements and tips to figure out the detail information of each part. Therefore, in the writing and polish part, students can use some tricks to make writing better together.

II Teaching aims By the end of the lesson, students will be able to

2. Read and learn the form of an application letter.

3. Learn how to use some tricks to make writing better.

Step 1 Brainstorming 1. Let students have a brainstorming of types of an application letter.

Applications for job/passport/resignation/scholarships...... （设计意图：通过头脑风暴的形式让学生思考什么情况下需要写申请信，了解申请信有哪些类型，导入主题，激活学生已有的背景知识，引起学生对申请信应用文写作的兴趣及重视。）

Step 2 Read and learn

1. Read a modle letter to James Dyson asking fim for a job at his company. 2. Learn the form of an application letter and key points of each part.

（设计意图：通过让学生阅读课本上提供的一篇申请信，去感悟和体会申请信的内容和构成，然后学习申请信的三个部分及每个部分应该包括的信息。）

Step 3 Make a conclusion

-----Three parts of an application letter 1. Beginning: stating your purpose directly and clearly.

(reason for application, source of information, your plan....... ) 2. Body part: briefly explaining your experience and ability in doing the job.

(work experience, education situation, hobby, speciality.....) 3. Ending:expressing your promise and thanks.

（设计意图：再次回忆并复述申请信的三个部分应该包括的信息，再次强化和记忆写作的框架。）

Step 4 Oral practice 1. Think over the title carefully and figure out the detail information of each part. 2. Make up sentences of each part according to the requirements and tips. 假设你是新华中学的学生李华，从某英文报上得知该报社正在招聘兼职记者，请按下列要点给报社写一封自荐信。内容要点如下：

1）表示感兴趣；

2）说明优势(知识面、英语水平、合作精神、相关经历)；

3）希望得到回复。

注意：1）100词左右（开头和结尾已给出）

2）可适当增加细节，以使行文连贯。

（设计意图：将作文分为三个部分Beginning，Body part and Ending，每个部分给出相应的中文提示，通过个别提问的方式进行Oral practice，发挥学生在课堂上的主体作用。Oral practice的口语输出为下一步的写作输出搭建语言支架。）

Step 5 Write and polish 1.

Form an possible version (first try) that students may write. 2.

Show students the score standards of college entrance examination(高考作文评分标准) 3. Let students polish their writing by group work.

Question: How to make writing better?

 Polish writing by adding some linking words.

 Polish writing by using better phrases

Form a better writing by polishing together. （设计意图：将刚才学生Oral practice输出的简单句子连句成段，让学生了解高考的作文评分标准后，给学生相应的提示，要求学生根据要求进行修改和润色，让学生学会可以从哪些方面去修改作文的初稿，不仅可以培养学生小组合作的意识，而且能够更好的提高学生的英语思维能力，锻炼其英语表达

能力，及利用连接词、好的形容词副词、高级词组、高级句型组句成篇的能力。）

Step 6 Homework

Write a leter of application and polish it with your group members. 假定你是李华，从互联网上得知龙岩“趣读吧”正在招募志愿者，请阅读启事，并根据要求用英语写一封申请信。内容包括：

1. 说明写信目的；

2. 介绍个人情况；（工作经验，兴趣爱好，性格等）

3. 表达对工作的感想及向往。

注意：

1.词数100左右。

2.可适当增加细节，以使行文连贯。

（设计意图：作业是课堂的拓展和延伸。这两年龙岩陆续开放不少“趣读吧”供广大市民开启“悦”读之旅，为了更好的服务社会，正在招募大量的志愿者，让学生用本节课所学知识独立完成一封申请信，然后利用本节课所学和同伴进行修改和润色，选题内容贴近学生的生活可以很好的调动学生的写作积极性。）

Step 7 Reflection

I spoke too much in class and students are supposed to have more opportunities to express their own thoughts on the writing。

Students can be more involved, and I ought to use effective teaching methods and ways to arouse their interest to express their opinions. 3.

If time permitting, I can collect more sentences to polish to make them better.
