Teaching aims: 1. To learn some new words such as: ability, raise, plant, collect, elderly. 2. To revise vocabulary about helping people in the community. 3. To generate ideas about ways to care for and help others. Important points: 1. Talking about what people can do. 2. How to stimulate the students how to care about others and help. Teaching process: Free talk: My name: My ability: Talk to students about Superstars. Guide students to understand the meanings of “can” and “can’t”.

Task 1: discussion in groups Watch some more pictures about “Superstars”.

Talk about dogs can do and can’t do.

Task 2: Listen and Answer First get some information from the pictures and then ask questions: 1. What does Eddie think of himself? 2. Can he fly? Listen to the tape and read in pairs loudly Act out the dialogue

Task 3 Knowledge Extension Abilities can help our dream come true! We can use our abilities to help others! Guide students to understand what they can do and can’t do.

Present pictures about Daniel and his friends. Ask questions about the pictures: 1. What can you do in the park? 2. What can you do on the bus? 3. What can you do to help the old people? 4. What can we do to help people in poor areas? 5. What other things can we do for the children in poor areas? Read and understand the sentences. Task 4: Listen and Find: 1. What does Millie think the children in poor areas need most? 2. Are all the families able to pay for pens and notebooks? 3. What can we do for the old/disabled people? Task 5: Show time 1.Show your ability to us: question games Helping others is helping ourselves! Task 6: Consolidation---an investigation Group work: What can /can’ you do in public? Then ask the group leader to have a mind map. Homework 1.Go on acting out the dialogue between Eddie and Hobo. 2.Memorize the words and phrases. 3.Finish the learning paper.
