By the end of the lesson, students are expected to be able to: 1. master new words, phrases and useful expressions about amazing things.

e.g amazing, same, from birth, times, bone, in the back of, fat, in fact. 2. know some unusual and amazing phenomena and events. 3. recognize and use adjectives that describe feelings of likes and dislikes. 4. talk about amazing things around the world correctly and freely. 5. broaden their horizons by learning more about amazing things or fun facts.

V. Teaching procedures Step1: Lead-in 1. The teacher plays a short video about aliens and UFOs. 2. The teacher has a free talk with students.

Step2: Presentation 1. T: Our friends Eddie and Hobo are also talking about it. Let’s join them! 2. Watch and answer (Predicting) ①

Step3: Practice

1. Ss read after the tape sentence by sentence and focus on some key points presented.

e.g. Come on, see -- saw

2. Read in different roles and read together. 3. Read by themselves. Remember as much as they can and try to retell the dialogue.

One day Eddie and Hobo looks at the sky(天空). Eddie thinks he sees a UFO, but Hobo thinks it is a plane because Hobo saw one yesterday. Eddie thinks there are many bright lights and it is too small, so it can’t be a plane.

Step4: Production Role play: Act out the dialogue between Eddie and Hobo.

Tips: ①

You can use your own words with emotions(情绪).

Go on the story if possible.

Try to use body language（肢体语言）and gestures（姿势）.

Step5: Presentation 1. Imagine that! The world is full of amazing things. 2. Guess if the amazing things below are true or false.

(T) 3. As we can see, some amazing things are real, but some are not. Now, let’s look at some facts, and they are all fun facts.

(1) The teacher shows pictures of the Sun and the Earth. Q: Which one is larger?

The Sun is about 1,300,000 times larger than the Earth.

(2) The teacher shows pictures of Lucy (2 years old & 22 years old). Students look the two pictures carefully.

Our eyes are the same size from birth, but our nose and ears never stop growing. (stop doing sth.)

(3) We sleep with our eyes closed (adj.).

Fish sleep with their eyes open (adj.).

(4) The teacher shows a picture of elephants and circle the back of elephants’ feet.

Q: How many bones are there in the back of elephants’ feet?

There are no bones in the back of elephants’ feet --- only fat (n.).

Step6: Practice

1. Match the pictures with the sentences and fill in the blanks.
