Step 1 Warming Up

Show the students some pictures to raise the students' interest. After enjoying these pictures, ask the students to answer two questions: 1.Have you ever seen the film Jurassic Park?Why do people like this film? 2.Which animals do you see in the film? Then let the students discuss with their partners and lead in the text. Step2 Skimming 1. Skim the whole passage and answer the following question.

A. is excited by the possibility of cloning fierce and extinct animals

B. believes that extinct animals can be brought back to life by cloning C. thinks it impossible or unsuitable to clone extinct animals like dinosaurs

Now what conclusions can you get after reading the text?

For this step , I want to strengthen the students' comprehension about the

text step by step. For the title, in fact it is an indicate that we can not clone the extinct dinosaurs or impossible for us to clone the dinosaurs successfully. The author doubts whether we can clone the dinosaurs . Because the answer type questions are too hard for the students so I change them into filling-blanks to low the difficulty. The second multiple choice question . I want to make the students know how to use the synonym phrases to make the writing colorful and rich. As for the first paragraph questions , my aim is to let the function of the film Jurassic Park and learn to find out the years which imply the clone's history is short and a new science to go. The substitute question and translations are for training the students' skill to find the clues in the text and the comprehension about the sentences of the text. And make sure that the students can learn how to infer according to the clues which given in the context. At last , the students can get the summary about this text as following :1.Now what conclusions can you get after reading the text? The first paragraph: 1)It is a new science.

2)a long way to go 3)We succeeded in cloning some animals. The second paragraph:

There are 3 conditions to clone the extinct animals.

1.perfect DNA

2. Enough diversity

3.a suitable habitat The third paragraph:

Time limit :no longer than 10,000 years ago but dinosaurs died of more than 65,000,000 years ago. So it is just a dream now. Why did I use"now"? Because I think that perhaps in the future the scientists can solve the difficulty to clone the extinct animals without the limit of the time. And I want to encourage the students to study hard to become a great scientist to settle this problem and let them challenge themselves to study hard for the future. Step6 Homework Please write a passage about 120 words. According to the discussion, further describe which kind of extinct animals do you think can be cloned .

This two steps are to train the students writing skills by the writing exercises. I will exam and correct the unsuitable places after the students hand them in and remark them next class.

VI、Teaching reflection 总之，本节课我重点突出学生的主体地位，我做导演，引导学生通过问题一步一步解决课文疑难，让学生在我的感染力下（精美的课件设计，惊险的电影，丰富的手势，幽默的言语，生活化的事例等等。）使学生享受课堂，积极主动参与课堂，而非被动的接受。让学生抢答的方式激发学生的课堂气氛和竞争意识。根据问题的层次让不同学生都有所收获。通过有关恐龙的电影都是外国人拍摄的，鼓励学生努力学习英语和拍摄出中国的之类电影而努力学习，并且由课文得出现在不能克隆恐龙，如果同学们努力学习，可能将来他们就可以成为大科学家而成功克隆出恐龙，再次激发学生的学习热情和愿望。

学生在本节课堂中基本实现了前面提到的各种目标。通过各个题目的设计，能力由大到小，由浅入深，发散，总结，升华一步一步的深化了主题，增强了知识的能力和人文意识。

本节课学生总体参与度高，表现积极热情，能大胆的主动回答问题，并且学生基本能够做到学习生活化如复习翻译题就是一例。实现了语气教学目标。通过多媒体的方式把教育、教学理应用到了具体教学中，提高了积极性和学生学习的热情。利用多媒体的视听功能和丰富的手势及热情丰富活跃了课堂。即使这样学生的主动参与意识还是有待提高。那就要在加大对待优生的关注和培养。
