worth, worthy, worthwhile 用法区别

教学目标：使学生通过这节课了解这三个词的区别以及掌握他们的用法。

重点：如何使学生能够更好的区别worth, worthy, worthwhile. 难点：学生能够在日常生活及学习中灵活地使用这三个词。

教学过程：

一、从句法功能上看

worth : 作表语，不用作定语；

worthy 和 worthwhile : 作表语和定语。

如: ①It isn’t worth the trouble.

不值得费那个事。

②He is a worthy gentleman.

他是位值得尊敬的绅士。

His behavior is worthy of great praise.

他的行为值得高度赞扬。

③They achieved a very worthwhile result.

他们取得了很有价值的成果。

We had a long wait, but it was worthwhile because we go to the tickets.

我们等了很久，但还算值得，因为我们把票买到了。

二、从搭配习惯来看

1. be worth 的搭配习惯

(1) be worth+名词/代词. ⑵ be worth+doing. 如：The picture is worth $ 500. 这幅画值 500 美元。

The clock is hardly worth repairing.

这台钟简直不值得修理。

What is worth doing is worth doing well.

值得干的事就得干好。

2. be worthy 的搭配习惯

(1) be worthy + of +n. / pron. ⑵

be worthy + of being done. ⑶

be worthy + to be done. 如: Their efforts are worthy of your support.

他们的努力应得到你的支持。

The Great Wall is worthy of a visit.

The Great Wall is worthy of being visited.

The Great Wall is worthy to be visited.

长城值得一去。

3. worthwhile用法：

⑴

①It is worthwhile doing sth

②It is worthwhile to do sth.

值得做某事

⑵

worth while：

It is worth one’s while to do sth.

值得某人做某事

e.g. It is worthwhile reading the book.

It is worthwhile to read the book.

It is worth your while to read the book.

那本书值得一读。

Step3. Conclusion

“他值得等待” 的几种说法：

worth: He is worth waiting for. worthy: He is worthy to be waited for.

He is worthy of being waited for. worthwhile:

It is worthwhile waiting for him.

It is worthwhile to wait for him.

It is worth our while to wait for him.
