Step One: Leading-in T: (Greet the class as usual) Today we will learn to write an advertisement. First of all, let’s appreciate some advertisements.

Step Two: Discussion

Ask a student to write down the sentence structures to express opinions and give reasons. Show them four advertisements and ask them to choose the one they like best. Why do you like it? What gives you a deep impression?

Step Three: self-study

Ask them to learn something about advertisements

Knowledge related to advertisements: Definition: An advertisement uses words and pictures to persuade people to buy a product or service, or to believe in an idea.

Types: commercial advertisements and PSAs Aims: commercial advertisements:

to advertise a product or a service

PSAs: to educate people about health, safety, or any other problem

Step Four: Reading and discussion Read the two advertisements on Page 17 carefully.

Discuss the following questions in groups. 1.

Can you speak out the features of these two ads? What are they? 2.

How can you make a successful ad?

Step Five Writing an advertisement

Show some pictures of our school and achievements that the school has got in recent years. Now I think you have got something about what an advertisement is and how to write one. Next let’s go on with the next step. We will write an advertisement for our school by using the information we have collected in the above steps.
