Pre-task preparation

1. Sing a song: 2. Play a game: T: Before the class, we will play a game. T: I say, you do the action. T: Raise your hands. Put down your hands. T: Stand up.

Touch you eye. While-task procedure 

To teach: chick 1. To elicit: T: Today, we will go to Bingo’s farm.

T: Bingo says welcome to my farm. T: On the farm, we can see many animals. T: They are farm animals. T: Peep, peep…

T: Listen, what do you hear? T: I hear a chick.

It’s a chick. 2. Read: chick

It’s a chick. (Read one by one.)

T: Read after me, chick, chick.

T: Look. It’s a chick.

It’s a chick. 3. Look and say:

a little chick

a yellow chick

It’s a chick. T: Look! It’s a little chick. Read after me, a little chick. A little chick. T: What colour is the chick? It’s yellow.

It’s a yellow chick. T: Read after me, a yellow chick, a yellow chick. T: Peep, peep, it’s a chick. T: Read after me, peep, peep, it’s a chick.

4. Say a chant:

Chick, chick, a little chick. Chick, chick, a yellow chick. Chick, chick, it’s a chick.

Peep … Peep …

T: Here’s a chant.

Let’s listen to the chant.

T: Read after me. Sentence by sentence.

T: Read by yourself.

5. How many chicks?

T: Let’s play a guessing game.

How many chicks?

T: Maybe. Now tell your classmate how many chicks.
