Using LanguageⅡ教学设计第二课时

My teaching plan will include 7 sections. They’re analysis of the teaching materials, analysis of the students, identifying the teaching aims, Teaching methods and Study ways,teaching procedures, thinking back after teaching and blackboard design. Section 1 Analysis of the teaching material The selected teaching material is a dialodges between Zhou Rui and Dr. Smith, Unit 3 of Inventors and Inventions. The listening text is about some information of a living inventor-Dyson, which is related to the theme of the unit, that is, applying for a job. After analyzing it carefully, I find the text has two unique characteristics. First, it’s a short text with 12 dialogues. Second, it deals with a new topic-Dyson company. 1.1Difficult point Speaking in front of the class is a challenge for most students. 1.2Important point Use the useful sentences patterns when writing an applicant letter. Section 2 Analysis of the students After studying the words and expressions of this unit, students have mastered some words about inventors and inventions-patent, product, microphone, helicopter and so on. But they are not good at listening and speaking: especially they are afraid to speak English in public occasion. Section 3 Teaching aims Based on the analysis of the teaching materials and students, I have chosen the following as the teaching aims. 1.Knowledge objects (1)

Know something about Dyson’s company.

Make students know how to use sentences patterns “I would like to apply…I would be grateful if you would consider…” and how to apply for a job. 2.Ability objects (1)

Develop the students’ abilities of listening, reading and speaking. (2)

Train the students’ ability of working in pairs.

3.Emotion objects Encourage the students to be confident in expressing themselves in English in public occasion. Section4 Teaching methods and Study ways In order to achieve the teaching aims mentioned above, I decided to choose Task-Based Teaching and Group Learning as the main teaching approach. With the teaching methods, students are inspired to solve problems and complete different tasks by themselves. Students abtain knowledge mainly by autonomic learning and cooperative learning. Section5 Teaching Procedures Step1 Lead-in(3 minutes) It’s important to activate students’ existing background knowledge and draw their attention to the topic of the text. In this part, I will use a video to increase students’ concentration and arouse their curiosities.

Step2 Listening (13 minutes) 1.

Second listening-Intensive listening (3 minutes) Listen again and make notes. 3.

Discussion (3 minutes) Discuss the notes and answers with their partners to find out the final answers. 4.

Show the results (2 minutes) Students volunteer to show their answers and their notes. 5. Evaluate (2 minutes) After showing their results, I would give a positive evaluation and supplement. Step 3 Reading (14 minutes) 1.

Read the applicant letter by themselves. (2 minutes) 2.

Find out the useful sentences patterns and think about other expressions that they have learned before. (group work) (5 minutes) 3.

Show their results (5 minutes) Let some students write down the sentences patterns on the blackboard. 4.Evaluate (2 minutes) After showing their results, I would give a positive evaluation and supplement. Step4 Speaking (12 minutes) 1.I will give a topic-apply for a monitor to students. 2. talk with their deskmates. (Group work) (5 minutes) 3.Show their results (5 minutes) 3

Some students volunteer to show their speech in front of the class. 4. Evaluate (2 minutes) After showing their results, I would give a positive evaluation and supplement. Step5 Summary (2 minutes) In this part, I will ask students to summarize what they have learned in this class in their words. Step6 Homework (1 minutes) Write down the applicant letter about applying for a monitor.

Section6 Think back after teaching In this class, students can practise listening, reading and speaking by discussing with groups. More and more students are encouraged to express themselves in English, so they become more confident in themselves. But I am lack of experience, please give me your valuable advice.
