James Dyson, 詹姆斯·戴森

工业设计师, 发明家

真空吸尘器的发明者。戴森工业的创始人。

戴森(James Dyson,1947-)戴森出生于教师家庭，在中学时就成绩优秀，1965-1966年就读Byam Shaw School of drawing and painting （即中央圣马丁艺术与设计学院的前身）。1966-1970年就读皇家艺术学院，学习家具设计和室内设计。学习期间他就从事许多设计活动，由他设计的名为"海上卡车"（The Sea Truck）的汽艇，获得设计协会奖和1975年的爱丁堡公爵特别奖。1974年，戴森开始自行设计球轮小推车，该小推车获得了1977年的建筑创新奖。1979年，戴森卖掉自己球轮小推车股份，自行研制一种新型气旋式吸尘器。1983年，戴森制造出自己的第一台吸尘器样机，这台非常具有后现代特色的粉红色产品被命名为"G-Force"，刊登于1983年的设计杂志封面。戴森在英国和欧洲并未找到合作伙伴，1985年，戴森带着他的产品来到

"G-Force"，1987年，"G-Force"在维也纳的英国设计展中亮相，1991年，G-Force日本获国际设计博览会奖。1993年，戴森在英国开设自己的研发中心和工厂。到目前，戴森的公司已经成为国际性的家电设计制造公司，在德国，日本等国都设立了分公司，主要生产吸尘器。

1997年，戴森公司成为第一家获得欧洲设计奖的英国公司。戴森曾担任巴斯戴森高等教育学院院长、设计博物馆馆长等要职，拥有飞利浦王子奖、皇家艺术学院委员会委员等多项荣誉，并获布拉福特大学和西英格兰大学博士学位。戴森现任英国设计协会主席。
