Period 1 Procedure Lead-in Step 1 Step 2 Step 3 Look at some pictures and ask: What were they doing when it began to rain? Explanation of the uses about “when and while”. Do some exercise. Activity 4a. Look at the table and write sentences with both while and when.

Step 4 Activity 4b. Fill in the blanks with was, were, when or while.

Exercises. Do oral practice by pictures. Explain the use of the past progressive tense clearly. Compare it with the past tense. Underline the correct form of the verbs. Activity 4c.
