Analysis of the students Ss in Grade Three are active, curious, and interested in English. After learning English for half a year, they have some basic English background knowledge, so the teacher should attach importance to communication with them, providing them the chances of using language.

Teaching procedures: Step1. Warm-up 1.

Step2. Presentation 1.

Present the new words: little fast, and the phrase: a little bit. a.

Present the pictures of a big elephant and a little cat to compare the words: big and small. Then present the word: little (the synonym of the word small). And then, let Ss read in line and read one by one.

Present the picture of a fat panda and a thin monkey to compare the words: fat and thin. Then T present three different somatotype of monkeys. When T ask them “Which one is fat?”, they will use the phrase: a little bit to describe the monkey that neither very fat nor thin.

c.

Present the pictures of a rabbit and a turtle, T ask “Who runs fast?”

to lead them understand the word “fast”, and then let them read, spell. d.

Present the pictures of amother panda and a baby panda, and then ask Ss to read and make sentences. 2.

Learn the part “Listen and Chant.”

Let Ss observe the picture on page 33 and then answer the question:

What’s in the pictures?

Listen to the chant and then underline the sentences that what does little

bird say? c.

Sing the chant. Ss are required to sing in groups.

Step3. Consolidation and Extension:
