I. Teaching aims Students will be able to

1. get a better understanding of p.p. as the adverbial; 2. tell the difference between –ing as the adverbial and p.p. as adverbial; 3. make use of both participles when making sentences.

II. Teaching important & difficult points 1.

the importance of sentence structure analysis

III Teaching procedures

Step 1 Leading in Talk about the become-of-age ceremony.

Step 2 Reviewing 1.

Revise a student’s account of the ceremony. 2.

Review –ing form as the adverbial and sum up the rules.

Step 3 Grammaring 1.

Make a hypothesis and try to prove it by making sentences.

Sum up the rules.

Step 4 Practicing 1.

Blank filling in sentences to compare –ing as the adverbial and p.p. as adverbial.

Blank filling in a passage, focusing on sentence tructure analysis.

Pair work. Make sentences using –ing as the adverbial and p.p. as adverbial.

Homework 1.

Go through the notes in P 39, BB. 2.

Review the lesson by completing the notes.

Write a passage of 80 ---- 100 words about the sports meet, using at least 2 present or past participles as adverbial.
