Grammar: Past Participle as Adverbial 一、

教材内容分析 本堂课定位为以阅读为载体的语法课（reading for grammar），设计了一系列围绕着过去分词做状语的不同形式任务，让学生回答与戏剧文本有关的问题，从教师创设的不同任务情境中发现并归纳过去分词做状语的用法，并灵活运用。

二、

教学目标

（1）学生通过阅读在进一步了解戏剧的基础上，发现并自行归纳过去分词做状语的用法。

（2）学生通过分析比较过去分词和现在分词的不同含义，能根据语境中恰当运用现在分词和过去分词做状语。

（3）学生通过小组讨论增强合作意识，启发思维，发展语言，培养情感（如通过描述学校和校园生活激发学生爱校情怀）。

教学过程

Step 1 Lead-in (3 mins)

（1）看图说话

教师用ppt展示3张图片组织学生“看图说话”描述希腊神话“皮格马利翁”。

T: Hello, class. First, let’s talk about a romantic love story according to the 3 pictures. 1st picture: Pygmalion makes a stone statue of a beautiful woman.

2nd picture: When he finishes the statue, he falls in love with it and goes to the Greek goddess to ask her to make the statue into a real woman. 3rd picture: His dream comes true.

（2）揭题

教师让学生仔细观察皮格马利翁效应的英文描述，发现过去分词的特点。

T: So we have Pygmalion Effect here. Expected to perform better, he or she acts positively and finally succeeds. Attention here, can we use ‘Expecting’ instead of ‘Expected’ ? (No, because we often say he or she is expected to do sth) [意图说明]教师用图片导入唤醒学生原有的知识经验，为后面的阅读环节做好铺垫。

Step 2 Reading （18 mins）

（1）阅读文章并回答5个问题。这几个问题(答案或题目)都和过去分词做状语有关。在展示答案后，让学生自行发现过去分词做状语的规律。

T: I’ll give you about 5 minutes for you to go through the text and answer the 5 questions. Ok, let’s begin. 1. As an expert in phonetics, what does Professor Higgins believe?( Professor Higgins is an expert in phonetics, convinced that the quality of a person’s English decides his/ her position in society.)

2. Why is Eliza frightened at Higgins at first and cried? (Frightened that

Higgins was a policeman in disguise, Eliza cries.)

What’s Eliza’s reaction when Higgins points out her birthplace?

(Confused, Eliza wonders why Higgins should know her birthplace.) 4.

How could Eliza pass herself off as an upper class lady according to Higgins? (Once taught by him, she’d become an upper class lady. / Once educated to speak properly, the girl would pass herself off in three months as a duchess at an ambassador’s garden party.)

What’s Eliza’s dream and what is she determined to do? (Determined

to be a shop assistant (Line 55), Eliza plans to take lessons from Professor Higgins.) [意图说明]

五个问题帮助学生更好的理解文章。题目的设置聚焦过去分词做状语，进而自然切入该语法的学习并自行发现归纳过去分词做状语的用法和特点，把语法与阅读结合起来。

（2）归纳过去分词做状语的用法。 1. Describe a state of mind. (强调状态) 2.

Describe an action done by somebody.（被动）

[意图说明] 教师意在启发学生逻辑思维，归纳规律。

（3）让学生根据3组例句总结过去分词和现在分词的区别。

T: Here are some exercises for you. You must use the correct form of the verbs on the screen.

Step 3 Exercises （23 min）

（1）用过去分词做状语完成句子。

Complete the following passage using the words：determine; accept;

disappoint; force; train ______ to earn money herself because of her poor family, Eliza always dreams of being a shop assistant. Knowing it is impossible to be _________ in that profession with her broken English and __________ to make her dream come true, she turns to Professor Higgins for help. ____________ by impatient professor, Eliza doesn’t give up, though. （4）用过去分词做状语造句，描述我们学校和校园生活。

[意图说明]教师在练习设计上由词--句--篇循序渐进，兼顾学生的参与度、思维的深度、语言的效度和情感的温度以及德育的无痕渗透。而最后一步更意在启发学生的创新思维，尽量把过去分词做状语这一语法运用起来。

Step 4 Homework （1 min）

书面表达：写一篇120词左右的短文描述我们学校和校园生活（文中至少有4个句子用过去分词做状语）。

[意图说明] 这项作业贴近学生，学以致用，巩固提升本课所学，培养学生的爱校情怀。
