学情分析：

本单元话题为sports events，是学生比较感兴趣的内容。这节课主要以两篇文章作为铺垫，为后面的make a speech做准备。为了满足学生综合语言运用能力的需求，除了训练学生的阅读技能、掌握演讲的基本结构，更着眼于挖掘语篇内涵，鼓励学生运用课堂所学进行英语口语表达和写作。

Teaching aims:

By the end of the class, students will be able to 1. grasp the three requirements for sports events to enter the Olympics. 2. know how to make a speech 3. learn to take proper attitudes to winning 4. do an extensive writing about spirits of sports related to Passage Two Teaching important and difficult points:

To help students do a project with entering a new sport into the Olympics.

To learn to take proper attitudes to winning 3.

Introduce the procedure to make a speech. Teaching Approaches: Task-based approaches；student-centered teaching approach; cognitive approach; communicative approach, etc. Form of Activities:

Teaching procedures:

Step 1

Lead-in 1.Listen to an Olympic song ‘Forever Friends’ and lead to 2008 Beijing Olympics 2.Watch a short video about Jacky Chan trying to do some events of the Olympics

【设计说明】通过一首奥运歌曲快速吸引学生的注意力，激发学生兴趣，导入奥运会，再由一段视频，自然导入奥运运动项目。

Step 2

Reading （passage 1）

1.Fast reading 2.Careful reading Read the passage paragraph by paragraph, and solve some reading comprehension questions. 【设计说明】通过细节阅读让学生进一步了解怎么把一个新的项目引进奥运会。

Step 3

Summary Let students summarize the basic process of entering a new project into the Olympics. 【设计说明】这是对课文的进一步巩固。

Step 4 Oral expression: make a speech about Wushu 1.

Get the students to be familiar with the three requirements by taking Wushu as an example ,and

practise orally. 2.

Let the students make a speech to introduce Wushu to the IOC members. 【设计说明】通过让学生利用关键词组句来训练学生的造句能力。通过模拟给国际奥委会成员进行有关武术的演讲，锻炼学生的口头表达能力。

Step 4 Reading (passage 2) 1.get the students to compare different people’s words and actions during the football match. 2.get the students to compare different people’s attitudes to winning and the results. 【设计说明】引导学生获取具体信息,培养从文字背后获取隐含信息的能力。

Step 5 Discussion

Get the students to form their own opinion about the topic “Winning isn’t everything”. To discuss with others and further understand the meaning of competitions. 【设计说明】引导并帮助学生思考,对输赢形成合理认识、树立正确的价值观,为接下来的演讲做好铺垫

Step 6 Extensive writing 1. Guide students to explore the essence of the article. 2. Ask students to do an extensive writing based on the text. 【设计说明】通过介绍各个步骤让学生能明确分工明白合作，认真完成讲演。

Step 7 Homework 1. Read the text aloud. 2. Finish the writing and polish it up.

【设计说明】通过家庭作业再次巩固所学内容。同时，鼓励学生拿出精彩的演讲。
