Greet the Ss as usual. Step 2 Lead-in

Show Ss a few pictures about ads, then ask the questions like following: 1.

What do ads try to persuade people to do?

Does an advertisement tell people the complete truth? Can you give some examples?

Step 3 Discussion 1.

Discuss the 4 features the advertisers often use: Color, graphics, lettering, Familiar Symbols & Catchphrases (流行语) ; 2.

The explicit and implicit meanings. Step 4 Fast reading

Give Ss 2 minutes to go through the passage, choose out the correct answer:

What is the main idea of this article? Step 5 Careful reading Play the MP3 of the passage, ask Ss to follow and read loudly, then finish the questions in C2 on Page 4. Allow Ss to have some small dicussions. Step 6 Homework: 1.

Reread the passage; 2.

Finish C1.
