Kung fu Master

Teaching aims: 1. The knowledge of language: (1)

Can help Ss listen, read and write the four-skill phrases about: swim,speak English,cook,play basketball,play ping- pong.Because these new knowledge have been seen in the first few units,So Ss are familiar with them. (2)

Can help Ss master the three-skill sentences: Can you ...?Yes,I can./No,I can’t.And practise with the new phrases. (3)

Can help Ss understand the story about “Kung fu Master”.

Can help Ss act the story,and receive education. 2. The practical skills: (1)

Ss can grasp the four skill words about：swim,speak English,cook,play basketball,play ping- pong. (2) Ss can master the three-skill sentences and they can replace the main words and use them in the real situation. (3) Ss can read story about “Kung fu Master” and understand it.

(4) Ss can master the change form of the phrase:”do some ...”,in the questions,it should be “do any ...”.

3. The personal development: (1) Ss can know that everyone should humbly ask for advice. (2) Ss can know that learning from your master ,then help others ,you will be a master. (3) Ss can enhance their abilities of speaking and writing. (4) Ss can enhance their ability of co-operation in English learning. Before dealing with this lesson, I’ll do my best to carry out the following theories: Make the students the real masters in class while the teacher himself acts as a director; Learning is for doing, so teacher will combine the language structures with the language functions and apply them in the real situations; Arouse the students’ interests and let the students receive some moral education while they are learning the English language. Students of

Class 1 Grade 5 have a good foundation in words and sentences. They are interseted in English.They have mastered some skills of listening, reading, speaking. Because of their different abilities, we should have the excellent students be able to master the story,and extension with their own knowledge. The poor students are just able to master the story,master the three-skill sentences . Many teaching methods are used in this lesson. Teacher adopts individual, pair work and group work to make every student work in class. Teacher uses oral practice to train the students’ speaking ability. And chants are good ways to regulate atmosphere and consolidate the knowledge. Based-task method can develop students’ ability in many ways.

Before the class, teacher will make a PPT to assist teaching. Teacher should prepare the story papers, a tape recorder, the blackboard, phrase cards and the materials for the story. Teaching process: 一、Warming

、Presentation& Practice 1.T:Great! And I can do some kung fu.(do the action) Can you do any kung fu?(write the sentence on the blackboard.) S2:…(teacher’s gesture helps the student answer “Yes” or “No”.)

Then teacher says you can answer like this:”Yes,I can”or “No,I can’t”.(at the same time,put the

cards on the blackboard.) 2.Teacher takes out the phrase of “do some cooking” and says:”I can do some cooking,Can you do any

cooking?” .Then the phrases :”do some sports”、”do some reading”,use the sentences: “I can…”and “Can you…”,Ss ask and answer by themselves.

Purpose:Replacing with the same type of phrases helps the Ss understand the change form of “do some...”,in questions ,it should be “do any...”) 3.T:Boys and girls, you are so smart.Now I divide you into 4 groups:”Group Play basketball ”、”Group Play ping-pong”、”Group cook”and “Group swim”.Let’ s PK.

3.Guessing game (1)PPT shows a riddle：

I have a fat body. I'm black and white. I have big black glasses on my face. I'd like some bamboo! Who am I ?

(2)Ss guess .(a panda) (2)T: Look ,two pandas:Paul and Jingjing.(PPT shows two pandas.)They’re talking.

(3)Take out the card”speak English”,Ss read it one by one,and says:I can speak

English--____(different English words or sentences).

Purpose:In this way ,Ss are easy to understand the meaning of “speak English”.Also I introduce

the main character----Paul to the class,get ready for the learning of the story. (4)Paul wants to learn kung fu, Jingjing tells him to find his friend--Kung fu Master. T:Do you want to know more?OK,today we’ll learn a storyabout Paul and the kung fu master. 4.learn the story （1）

listen to the tape ,underline the key words.And think about this question:”What does

the kung fu master teach Paul ?”Ss listen with the question.

Purpose: it parctises their listening ability .at the same time ,they know the main story. （2）

After they listen to the tape.Ss answer the question: ”What does the kung fu master teach Paul ?”According to the story ,the answers should be:cook、swim、play basketball、play ping-pong、do some kung fu.(By answering,T puts the phrases on the blackboard.)[给完整答对学生所在的组加分，用相应的图片 ] Learn P1 (1)

T:Paul goes to the Qingcheng mountain,he wants to learn some kung fu. Let’s read the dialouge.

between constantly ask and answer, to cultivate the students' oral English ability and exercise his hearing, also make the students firmly grasped the the focus of the teaching in class.

三、Consolidation 1.T:Act this story in pairs.Then put performance. 2.PPT shows some pictures of real life situations,the contents are about that someone meets difficulties in life.(作业遇到难题，小朋友摔倒，老奶奶过马路等) （1）When we see these situations,what can we say ? what can we do? （2）We can say:No problem, I can help you.And we can help others. （3）The story tells us:Learn some kung fu,help others,then you can be “a true master”.

Purpose:Combined with living examples, and let the students understand what true kung fu master is. Refining the theme: Learn some kung fu,help others,you will be a true master. 3.Become a true master ,you should learn all your life and help others all the time. 四、Homework 1.Copy the sentences”Can you ...?Yes,I can./No,I can’t.”in each page of the story 4 times.

3.Make a new dialouge with your classmates , use the new sentences:Can you ...?Yes,I can./No,I can’t.

Purpose:To students of Grade 5,writing is an important part of their English learning.Retell the story to exercise their memory ability and language ability of organization.Make a new dialogue is a boost to our class learning, test whether the students in this class knowledge to master. 五、Blackboard design
