Teaching aims

By the end of this lesson, students can: 1.

learn about English poems and rhymes. 2.

improve their reading skills. 3.

finish some poems and understand that we should enjoy the life happily.

Teaching procedures

Step1. Warming-up Watch a short video about pets.

Step2. Presentation (new words and expressions) 1.

Talk about the pets they’d like to keep and the reasons.(Pair work) 2.

Learn new words and expressions by talking about my favourite pet.

Step3. Presentation (the two poems)

A: My dog 1.

Fast reading: read by themselves and answer an easy question. 2.

Careful reading: Ask some students to read and fill in the blanks. Read together and understand some important sentences Read with the tape and find the rhymes.

B: My goldfish Listen and answer. Read together and fill in the blanks. Read with the tape and find the rhymes.

Step4. Practice 1.

Listen and finish a poem together. 2.

Finish the poems and show the poems.(Group work) 3.

Understand that we should enjoy the life happily.

Step5. Homework 1.

Recite the two poems. 2.

Try to write a poem about your favourite pet.
