I. Teaching aims and learning objectives

1. get information from listening materials; 2. use the information and complete a report; 3. talk about their abilities.

II. Teaching contents 1. New words and phrases: term, hard, article, careless, better, violin, show, this term, work hard on, try one’s best, play the piano, do well in, 2. New Sentences: She needs to read more and speak more.

III. Focus of the lesson and predicted area of difficulty 1. Learn how to make and fill in a report card. 2. To learn to talk about what you can and cannot do.

IV. Teaching procedures Step 1 Lead-in

Free talk T: Hello, boys and girls, what subjects do you have at school this term (学期)? S1: Chinese, Math, English, Biology, Geography, Music, Art and History. 【设计意图：通过学生熟悉的话题导入本课内容。】

Step 2 Presentation

Show some pictures about the subjects.

Then ask: Which subject do you like best? And why? Ss: English. Because it is interesting. Tell students if you want to learn English well, you should listen to the teacher carefully, take notes, read more and speak more. Ss read read more and speak more after the teacher. Teacher ask : Anybody else? What about you? Teach some new words and phrases. Chinese: do well in = be good at, You should read more books to write good articles. Read article one by one. Tell students Chinese is our mother language, so we should do our best to learn it well. do one’s best means try one’s best Read after the teacher.

Maths: Teacher say: I know all of you work hard on Maths. You should be careful. Don’t be careless. Learn work hard on , careless

Step 3: Listening Part A1 Mr Wu made a report on Suzy’s study. Now, let’s listen to the report and write the correct letters in the boxes in A1.
