To help the students develop their reading abilities, skim and scanning. II.

Through cooperative study and group work, students talk about the questions for a few minutes. III.

Emotion, attitude and evaluation objectives. By learning this lesson, students should know the importance of price of things. Teach the students to be save in daily life. Teaching tools: Blackboard, Book, Chalks, Multimedia, Exercises papers Teaching procedures:

Step1. Warming-up. The activity of “Super Speaker”.

Teacher: Good morning boys and girls! It’s our time for our super speaker”. Whose turn? Tom, please.

Tom: “I often thought that it would be nice to have a lot of money , then I

will buy a lot of clothes for my mother ,because she like nice very much. ”

Teacher: wow! Very good. It’s from “Helen Keler’s “Three days to see”. Right? You’ve made great progress.

(This Super Speaker Activity can make the students absorbed in the class quickly.) Step2. Leading-in.

The PPT shows some pictures. Students look at the pictures and spell their English name with their fingers in the air quickly. Then, write the words the students know for the things in the picture in 2a. Students show their answers. The answers will vary. Step3. Listening and Reading Task I: Pre-reading.

Students look and talk about the pictures on PPT, then set steps into the passage in 2b. Listen and circle the new words and focus on the tone and stress.

Task II: While-reading First, read the passage and answer the questions: What’s this ? What color is it?How much is it? (Students group work. Then teacher chooses 4 representatives from 4 groups to show their answers and comments.)

Second, read the passage carefully, find out the phrases about the position and the key sentences “How much

is…/How much are…”

Third, read again, complete the chart about the things Kate and Gina have and how much they are. (Students group work and choose one representative from their groups to show their answers and comments. As for the best group, the teacher will give scores.) Forth: Based on the chart, the teacher invites some students to retell the passage. (The other students clap for them.) Task III: Post-reading Show a picture on PPT. Based on the picture, students write a composition for 3 minutes. Then the teacher lets some students share their compositions with others. The others give scores and hand on their scores after class. Step4: Practice The teacher distributes the exercises papers to the class. Every group has their own exercise task. After doing the exercises, groups choose a representative to show their answers and their comments on the answers. Step5: Homework 1.

The students who learn English well are requested to recite the passage. 2.

The students whose English is poor need to remember the new words and new phrases. 3.

All of the students need to preview the next period and draw a picture of their ideal rooms.
