1. The teacher asks the students some questions, and then shows some beautiful pictures of Xiamen on PPT. Do you know where the most beautiful University is? (Xiamen.) What do you know about it? We know, it is beautiful. Let’s enjoy some pictures.

After appreciating the beautiful scenery of Xiamen, we’ll finish a short reading.

Please take out your learning paper. Look at the Pre-reading. 2. Pre-reading Before starting the reading and vocabulary part, the teacher asks the students to

finish the first part by filling the blanks on the learning paper, where there is some information about Xiamen.

(Ask students to complete it one by one.) Step III Reading 1.Listening(8’)

Listen to a dialogue, and finish Activity I on the learning paper. Let two or three

students write their answers down of Activity II on the blackboard, and then check them together. 2.Reading(6’)

Read the shortened passage together to finish the Exercises 1 and 2 on Page 33 in Students’ Book 1. Several minutes later, check the answers. Give the students detailed explanation, if necessary. Step IV Activity Supposing that a foreign friend of yours is visiting you, you are showing him around your city. What would you like to introduce to him? Make a dialogue with your deskmate. In your dialogue you can cover history, location, food and so on.

Step V Summary and Homework Your foreign friend can know more about your city from your dialogue. I can see that you know your city well, and love it very much. You must work hard from now on to protect your city and make it better. Today’s homework: Preview the language points in reading and pay special attention to those you don’t understand.
