Teaching aims: Knowledge aims: To grasp some sentences to express opinions. Ability goals:

1. To know something about My Fair Lady

2. To practice some specific reading skills.

3. To develop their ability in listening, speaking and reading.

Step1. Warming up& Lead-in

1. Tell students the story of Pygmalion

2. Grasp the meaning of Pygmalion Effect

3. Clear the plot of Fateful Meeting.

Step2. Skimming:

Listen to the tape find out the main dear of the passage. The skimming skills: 

Read the first sentence of each paragraph. 

Read the introduction of the first paragraph. 

Read the summary or last paragraph. Step3. Scanning

Task 1, Finish the following practice according the passage—Multiple Choice Task 2, Finish the grammar cloze, the summary of the passage.

Step4. Discussion

Topic: To improve English, should students always expect themselves that they are bound to learn English well? What’s your opinion? Why？

Assignment: Discuss in groups and write your ideas. Some useful expressions: A:

Step 5. Conclusion:
