Unit 5 Do you have a soccer ball? Section A 1a-2c
I. Teaching aims and demands:
1. Knowledge Objects To be able to use the new words : tennis ball, ping-pong bat, soccer ball, volley ball, basketball, baseball bat. To master the target language: Do you have a baseball? Yes, I do. No, I don’t.
Does she have a tennis ball? Yes, she does. No, she doesn’t. Do they have a basketball?Yes,they do. No, they don’t. 2. Ability Objects: To be able to talk about ownership using have; To train students’ communicative competence.
3. Moral object: Enable students to love and enjoy sports. II.Teaching key points: master the new words and expressions; Be able to talk about ownership using have. Master the use of have/has. III.Teaching difficulties: Master the use of have/has. IV.Teaching methods:
The task-based teaching approach; The group cooperative learning method; The audio-lingual method. V. Teaching aids: A tape recorder, some pictures of balls, handouts. VI.
Teaching procedures: Step I Lead-in Let students look at two pictures of me, then ask and answer like:
T:What am I doing? S: You are playing basketball. T: Yes, I am playing basketball. I like sports. Do you like sports? S: Yes.I do. T: I like sports, so I have lots of sports collections. Look at some pictures, What do I have?
StepⅡ Presentation Show the pictures of some balls, teach students the words of the balls one by one. Then teach students to read the new words and make sure they can read them well.
StepⅢ Play a game Ask students to speak out the balls according to the person in the pictures Step IV Listening practice First let students get the listening tasks, then guide students to look through the words of the balls. Ask students to listen to the tape twice, the first listening: Listen and circle the words they hear. The second listening: Listen and fill in the blanks. At last ask students to listen and repeat.
Step V Practice 1.
Pair work: First invite two students to read the sample dialogue. Then make a dialogue with one student. Next let students ask and answer in pairs. Then invite some pairs to show their own dialogues.

Ask students to fill in the blanks according to the pictures. 3.Let students ask and answer together according to the pictures using the following sentence patterns:Does she/he have a...? Yes, she/he does. No, she /he doesn’t. Do they have a ...?Yes,they do. No, they don’t. 4. Ask students to chant together. Step VI Listening practice First let students get the listening tasks.Then guide students to look through the pictures. Next ask students to listen to the tape twice, first listening: Listen to the and number the pictures [1-4]. Then ask students to look through the pictures of the balls. Second listening: Listen again. Match the pictures in 2a with the balls. Then for check: check the answers. Step VII Group work Ask students to work in groups and finish the following chart:
