Unit 3 At the zoo New Words

I. Teaching aims for class hour 1

III. Teaching process:

Step 1: Warming up&Greetings

Good morning, boys and girls. Nice to meet you.

Ask students to introduce themselves.

(Now I’d like to be your friend. So let’s ask some students to introduce themselves.)

T: Wow, you are so tall/smart/pretty/strong.

S: Thank you!

Let them know that they should say thank you under the circumstances.

Step 2: Lead in

1.D ivide the class into groups. Each group has a zoo. Give or take the animals in the zoo.

2.D raw a boy’s face. Review the words ear/eye/nose/head/body

3. Guessing game:

T: Boys and girls,let’s play a guessing game,listen;

It has big ears. It has long nose. What′s the animal?

Ss:It’s an elephant.

T: Yes. Look at that elephant. It has a long nose.

(Review the words of animals, and present the sentence pattern) Step 3: Presentation

1.P resent the new words:

T: Now we choose animals for our zoos.

Draw some pictures of animals with missing parts.

T: I forget. Rabbit has a long tail or a short tail?

2. Focus the students on their books.Then give the pattern: (Now we are at the zoo. Let’s find out what animals we can see.) It has a …

Read the sentences for several times (book, page 28).

Step 4: Practice

1. Play a game: Quick respond. Score for each group. (Correct the pronunciation via the game.)

Ask the students to practice in small groups.

3. Complete the activity in P29.

Review the words we’ve learned today.

Step 6: Summing up/Homework

1. Evaluate the performance of the students in class.
