He ran very fast." It talks about ability.I will introduce my lesson from the flowing seven parts.First, let me talk about the teaching material.

Ⅰ Analysis of textbook This lesson is the first period of unit2 in module6 of Grade 5, published by Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press. The topic of this unit is how to describe the ability with past tense.This unit is close to students’ daily life,so students will be interested in it.

Ⅱ Analysis of students Students in grade 5 are very activate in the class but they can’t focus on the class for a long time. So they need teacher’s guide. And in the fist period,students have learned some words and sentences about ability.So the learned knowledge and interests will make it easy for them to study this part.

Ⅲ Teaching objectives 1. Knowledge and ability objectives 1) Ss can read and use the new words: past,swam,slow,healthy. 2)Ss can use the sentence pattern “I/ He/ She/ You can.... well/ badly.”

“ Can you? Yes, I can/ No, I can’t do it at all.”

3) Ss can use the new sentences to describe past abilities.“In the past,he ran very fast. Now, he’s slow but healthy.”

Practice1:Show the picture about kangaroo,rabbit,shark and see the picture to talk about their abilities with past tense.(pair work) Practice2:Let students see the picture about the Monkey King and play the Monkey King to say its abilities.For example, I jumped very far and I flied very high.Who say the most abilities will be praised. Knowledge2:Show the picture about Amy’s grandfather and let students guess what he is? Then listen to the text and read the story.
