教学目标：培养学生的阅读能力，扩大学生的词汇量。

学情分析和教学设计思路：教学对象是理科普通班，学生的知识基础较弱，尤其是词汇量小，阅读能力差，对信息的捕捉能力不足。本单元的阅读材料是发明家及他们的发明，材料内容丰富，学生比较感兴趣。为了培养学生的阅读技能，结合文体特点，设计了读前猜测主要内容，读中获取关键信息，读后自主总结，归纳的一系列教学活动。

教学重点：

1. 培养学生的阅读微技能

2. 扩大学生的词汇量

教学难点：对阅读材料进行总结归纳

教学方法:

自主学习、小组讨论

教学步骤：

Step1 Leading-in Ask the students some questions to arouse their interest in the topic. Q: Who invented the telephone? Which country was he from?

Step2 Pre-reading

Raise a question to start a discussion among students. Q: How telephone was invented by Bell ? Was it easy or not?

Help the students to guess the main idea of the text according to the title and genre of the text.

Title - Alexander Graham Bell Genre (体裁)- biography

Step3 Reading

Guide the students to get the key information of the text by filling the blanks.

Step4 Post-reading Activity1-Listening

Help the students get the information of the whole text through listening.

Activity2-Group discussion Q1: what makes Bell such a great inventor? (write down some words ) Q2: What information is usually included in a biography of great people? 3.

Compare and discuss the similarities and differences between the two biographies.

Step 5 Summary

Step6 Homework 1. Go over the text. 2. Finish the exercises in English weekly issue 43 P2 Look back.
