英语学科的核心素养包括语言能力、思维品质、文化意识和学习能力四个方面。写作教学是培养英语学科核心素养的重要途径。它要求学生根据所给的情景和要求写一篇书面材料，做到所写内容符合所给情景并要求文章通顺，但又不能自行立意，随意发挥。本课采用了以话题为中心的训练模式和方法，引导并训练学生围绕这一主题展开写作。

本单元的话题是“不入虎穴，焉得虎子”。通过阅读使学生了解欧内斯特沙克尔顿伯爵，英国最伟大的探险家。本节课是本单元第三节课——听说课。学完本单元基础知识和课文之后对于学生的writing技能提高的训练。教学内容是让学生提高听力和写作水平。

学生已经具备了一定的用英语获取信息，处理信息的阅读能力和一定的写作能力。但作为理科生语言运用能力较差，听力跟不上去。因此本节课重点练习听，说，写。
