2. Which of them do you like best? Why?

3. What can we do to enter a new sport into the Olympics?

Step3 Listening & Scanning：

Play the recorder of passage A and encourage the Ss to try to find the

detailed information in each part, filling in each blank with one word. 听力练习

Ask two students to write their answers on the blackboard.

Part 1: How does a sport enter the Olympics?

First, it must have its own 1 international

association.

Second, it should be practiced by men in at least 2 75 countries on at

least four continents, or practised by 3 women in at least 40 countries and 学生展示

on three continents.

Third, another sport must be 4 dropped . Part2: Which ones are out?

Some sports that were part of the Olympics in the past have been

removed. These include familiar sports, such as 5 baseball , as well as

more unusual sports. Part3: Which ones are in?

Some sports have been 6 added , such as tae kwon do, which was first

included in the Olympics in 2000. In 7 2016 , rugby and golf, which were

earlier played at the Olympics and then dropped, will be included again. Part4: Which ones are still applying?

is still applying to get into the Olympics. The IOC has still

not approved the sport due to the concern about the balance of sports.

Step4 Reading Ask the Ss to read the passage B carefully and answer the following

1. What happened at the end of the football match?

The Eagle’s captain kicked the ball and scored.

2. What did the Kangaroos do after they went home?

They trained harder than before.

3. How did the Bears win the final match in the next tournament?

The Kangaroos’ captain stopped the match and let the Bears have the ball. Within minutes, the Bears scored and won.

4. What can we learn from the Kangaroos?

In defeat, the Kangaroos found something more precious than victory,

such as friendship, honour and respect.
